The chair aims to propagate the ethical principles among health care providers in cooperation with other universities and organizations to promote delivery of health services to all people irrespective of age, sex, disabilities, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status.

Increasing public awareness with human and patient rights is one of our goals.

01. Our History

On April, 2020 an agreement was signed by the Director-General of UNESCO and the President of Ain Shams University, Egypt for establishment of a UNESCO Chair in Bioethics at Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo.

02. Our Goal

The goal of the chair is to facilitate collaboration between high-level, internationally-recognized researchers and teaching staff from the universities and other institutions in Egypt, as well as elsewhere in the Arab region.

03. The specified objectives of this Chair are to:

  • Poster the establishment of a national network of bioethics units in Egyptian universities
  • Increase awareness among healthcare providers and researchers of the principles of bioethics and the necessary codes of practice.

04. Expanding Goal

  • Create a community of bioethicists in Egypt to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practices.
  • Design and implement activities aimed at increasing public awareness of human and patient rights.
  • Cooperate closely with UNESCO and other UNESCO Chairs on relevant programs and activities
