The President of Ain Shams University receives a delegation from the University of East London

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein Al-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received Professor Amanda Broderick, President of the University of East London, to discuss ways of cooperation between the two universities and expanding the scope of cooperation with the University of East London to include other faculties such as pharmacy, nursing, and media, in addition to the faculties of Engineering, and Computers and information Sciences.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein Al-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, greeted the attendees, appreciating the visit of the University of East London delegation, adding that the University of East London is one of the distinguished universities within international classifications, and praised its scientific and academic excellence and the level of employment of graduates.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance scientific cooperation between the two universities and encourage joint workshops, seminars and research within the framework of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030, and in light of Ain Shams University’s keenness to deepen its international role and continue to hold partnerships and joint scientific degrees with prestigious international universities.

The meeting was attended from the British side by Dr. Hassan Abdullah, Academic President, Dr. Paul Marshall, Deputy Advisor for Projects and Employment, Dr. David McRoy, Assistant for Partnerships and International Cooperation, Dr. Amy Rogerson, senior faculty staff, and Dr. Arwa Mohamed Hani, International Relations Coordinator.

The meeting was also attended by Ain Shams University, Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Nagwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Prof. Amani Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Sahar Mousa, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Heba Shaheen, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Information, Prof. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the University’s International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Dr. Engy Al-Damak, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communications and Electronics Engineering, Dr. Menna Abdel Hamid, International Cooperation Coordinator at the Faculty of Information, Dr. Marwa Mohamed Hani, Dr. Noha Gamal Saeed, Scientific Exchange Coordinator at the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Shereen Rady, Director of Special and International Programs, and Dr. Islam Hegazy, Executive Director of the Center for Networks and Information Technology.

The delegation from the University of East London toured the university campus, during which it was accompanied by Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Collaboration Sector, and the delegation was received by Prof. Nagwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty.

The tour included learning about the faculty’s various laboratories, its modern technical capabilities, the infrastructure development plan, and the construction of a new building that includes a larger number of study halls equipped with the latest advanced educational technologies. The delegation also learned about the robot “Shams,” which was made by students of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, its capabilities, and the tasks it can perform. The delegation praised the robot and its capabilities.

The tour also included a visit to the Zafaran Museum, where the delegation listened to a detailed explanation about the educational museum’s holdings, which includes a number of distinctive artifacts.

The delegation visited the University’s Networks and Information Building and was received by Dr. Islam Hegazy, Director of the University's Networking Center, and the visit included an inspection of the knowledge laboratories, the seminar hall, the Shams Unit, the data center, and the computer laboratories.

The delegation also visited the Faculty of Engineering and was received by Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, and the delegation inspected the Luban workshop, the audio laboratory, and the program building, in the presence of the faculty’s vice deans.
